Lift the Lid on Mental Illness

On 10 October, Lift the Lid on Mental Illness is Australian Rotary Health’s National annual fundraising day for mental health research.

The Lift the Lid Walk event is a national initiative used to raise awareness on mental illness across Australia. It gives communities an opportunity to come together and Lift the Lid on Mental Illness.

Hosted by the Rotary Clubs of Australia, funds raised from the walks go into mental health research through Australian Rotary Health.

Each year approximately 1 in 5 Australians will experience a mental illness and in order to help future generations of young Australians, we need to look ahead through research and find out how we can prevent this type of illness occurring.

Lift the Lid in Schools

One the biggest challenges facing schools and parents today is the mental wellbeing of our children.

Each year 1 in 5 people experience a mental illness and one-third of young people have had an episode of mental illness by the time they are 25 years old. Because of these startling statistics Australian Rotary Health has committed to allocate its funding to mental health prevention research in young people.

Lift the Lid in Schools aims to encourage children to participate in raising much needed funds and to start the conversation about finding better ways to help all Australian kids improve their mental health.
